Facelifts In Phoenix - Arizona Cosmetic Surgery

The desire to look younger has always been a principle raison d'etre of cosmetic surgery. Thanks to modern Rhytidectomy (facelift surgery), patients now have the ability to dial back the clock. At Arizona Cosmetic Surgery, in Phoenix, Dr. Chasby Sacks makes it his mission to help patients recapture a confidence-inspiring youthful appearance.

Throughout one’s life, the sun’s radiation, stress, gravity, and other factors cause the skin to sag and fit more loosely. Areas of the face and neck, in particular around the jaw line, are especially prone to the aging process. Though these changes are gradual, wrinkles and other signs of aging can make individuals “feel older” than they really are.

Techniques for Facelifts in Phoenix

Facelift before and after in phoenix
Depending on the particular goals and anatomical features of the patient, facelift surgery can be accomplished using a variety of techniques. Dr. Chasby will take the time to review procedural options with you at his Phoenix office. In most cases, facelift surgery is conducted while the patient relaxes while under conscious sedation and local anesthetics.

Surgery for a facelift involves the contraction and realignment of facial and neck skin, and in some instances the removal of excess fat deposits. A facelift is often performed in combination with other facial cosmetic procedures and can be performed any time signs of aging begin to appear. However, patients are generally in their forties or older when they elect to undergo this procedure.

Reasons for considering a facelift in Phoenix:

  • Loose skin of neck or face
  • Prominent lines from nose to side of mouth (naso-labial lines)
  • Prominent lines from corner of mouth downwards (Marionette lines)
  • Prominent jowls
  • Prominent vertical lines in neck (due to underlying muscle laxity under the skin)
  • Patients with one side of the face drooping due to Bell's palsy (a paralysis or weakening of a facial nerve - usually from a viral infection).

Final decisions for the surgical plan will be fully discussed with the patient and Dr. Sacks at his Phoenix, Arizona office.

What Happens When I Get a Facelift?

In order to minimize intrusiveness, Dr. Sack's approach to facelift surgery involves the use of small incisions near the patient's hair line. The incision follows the contour in front of the ear, and continues under the earlobe to the backside of the ear until it reaches the neck area behind and below the ear.

Once the incision is complete, liposuction can be used to remove fat deposits as needed. Excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is tightened and rejoined, leaving the face with renewed angular, youthful contours. Minuscule stitches are used to close the incisions and to reduce any chance of scarring.

A small tube may be inserted under the skin in the lower neck for a few days to drain excess fluid. The drain is easily removed after a few days. A facelift may take several hours or longer depending on whether other cosmetic procedures are completed at the same time. Sometimes other procedures may be performed in separate appointments.
