Tummy Tuck from Arizona Cosmetic Surgery in Phoenix
What is a Tummy Tuck?
The tummy tuck (or abdominoplasty) is the surgical removal of excess skin and/or fatty deposits from the abdomen, along with the re-positioning of abdominal muscles in to a tighter formation.
Many patients find that dieting and exercise (and the resulting weight loss) is not enough to attain their desired abdominal form. This stubbornness of the abdomen is often caused either by the excess of abdominal skin following weight loss or the loosening of the abdominal muscles and loss of skin elasticity following pregnancy.

Are You a Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
If you'd like a flatter and more trim stomach, then abdominoplasty may be a procedure worth considering, especially if you're not satisfied with the results achieved through dieting and exercise alone. Generally speaking, the more weight lost by a patient prior to surgery, the less risk there will be of any significant complication. Nevertheless, even if the patient feels they still have weight to lose, the decision of whether or not they are candidates for the surgery is best determined by Phoenix tummy tuck surgeon, Dr. Sacks.
The Tummy Tuck Process
An abdominoplasty surgery lasts anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the desired look and the patient’s unique anatomy. To begin the procedure, an incision is made just above the pubic bone area. This incision is made somewhat horizontally across the lower abdomen and sometimes around to the back. The skin is then removed away from the muscle tissue, and excess skin and/or fat is removed. The abdomen muscle tissue is tightened to provide a firmly contoured stomach and well-defined waistline. Finally, the incision is closed, and the skin is stitched back into place. Sometimes the procedure requires an additional incision around the navel in order to provide the best results. Also, a surgical drain may be placed under the skin for a short time in order to remove unwanted fluid/blood.
